Fanboys, get a grip... PDF Print E-mail
(0 votes)
A long winded rant, but bare with me.

Is it just me or has the face of gaming turned really ugly these past two or three generations? I go on lots of forums, (note: Not just GT's forum you morons.) and all I see is just cut-throat fanboy bull thrown into one console camp from another.

Really, is all this demented fervor that necessary? Do you remember when being a gamer used to be fun? You know, fun? As in not wanting to cut out somebody else's eyes with razor blades because they happen to disagree on their console of choice? Granted, it's kind of an extreme example, but it's definitely the impression I'm getting. I'm honestly surprised there haven't been shootings over one's own console. And people might say Nobody is that stupid. From what I've seen, it wouldn't surprise me.

Now, granted, there are some people who do need to be erased. They're idiotic pressence just brings down the rest of the community, then they become the walking figurehead of that console's fanbase, and are used as an example as to why that particular console and it's fanbase are a bunch of bunny sucking schlamiels. It's completely ridiculous.

To those who criticize those who have a different opinion on you like they're wrong and you aren't. Who the Gods made you an authority on anything? When did your word become law, and why do you think that your opinion is any more valid than anybody else's. In what twisted psycho universe were you left in charge of people's thoughts and who appointed you?

People should not be ridiculed for what they want to play. They've found something to entertain themselves in certain games that you might deem beneath you. Who are you to tell them they are wrong? I see this happening all the time when it comes to particular game series. Games like Halo in particular. If a person thinks the game is great, it's usually some kind of death sentence. Grow up! Accept that they found something that amuses them, and not you. Everybody has their taste. If you're going to argue with them. Argue like an intellectual, not some knuckle dragging Neanderthal. I fully recognize that you might, and probably will disagree with my taste. That's fine. But instead of calling a someone n00b or a moron. How about you try to cover every base of why you don't like that game. Chances are I still won't agree with you, but I'll respect you a lot more when you take the time to put in the effort and make a good argument. Making a simply post like "You suck". Doesn't help the argument. If you're truly going to argue with me, even if it is in one post, put forth the effort to do so.

Another thing. I'm sick of the bottom feeding scum bags who take pleasure in watching games of an opposing console fail and then gloat about it. How miserable is your existence that you have to take time out of your day to degrade another console's game just because it didn't live up to people's expectations?

I've recently seen this with games like Haze and Ninja Gaiden II.

Ok, Haze, we get it, not a very good game. I think I'd wager that in my eyes it's a piss poor game with no real redeeming qualities. However I can proudly say that I've never went into the any PS3 forum and said one of the following statements about Haze. "What a total waste of disc space", "I guess the PS3 is for losers" or something similar. It doesn't make you any better by doing so, and makes you look like even more of a idiot then you might actually be.

If that was the 360 side, here's the flip side with the PS3.

You PS3 Fanboys are just as idiotic. With the release of Ninja Gaiden II, I've seen a disturbing amount of threads saying the game was a flop, a failure, and whatever else might come out of your over-righteous mouths. Granted, Ninja Gaiden II isn't the revolution that Ninja Gaiden on Xbox was. It has it's share of issues. However for a game that's been rated in the mid 8's to mid 9's and a few outliers here and there, it isn't a failure. People who usually claim it is will throw in the argument that Sigma was better. What you people forget to realize, or admit is that Sigma was a second repackaging of an older game. The ground work was laid out, the levels were set, the monsters were in place, and the only difference were a few additions that never affected the core gameplay, and graphics redo that vomited light bloom. (Another thing I'm getting really tired of seeing in current gen games.) Sigma was nothing more than a repackage. Until Hayashi can put out a project on his own that has been done from the ground up, he hasn't proven anything. Remember that.

Don't get the impression that I'm absolving myself of some of things that I've stated above. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least partially guilty of some of the stuff here. But I'm trying to better myself and look past the BS, and look back to when being a gamer meant playing games, not fighting a damn war.

There has always been rivalry between consoles. From Atari to Collecovison. Sega to Nintendo, and then the trifecta of Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft. Up until the last generation, I've never had a problem with fans of different consoles. It's really gotten to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if somebody had their throat slit for liking an opposing franchise or console.

I'll put up a PC vs Console rant when I'm pissed off enough again.
