With the recent focus on E3, i was wondering what lures people towards gaming. I believe that i have come up with a few reasons which may be able to explain why people get lured to gaming.

Look in the dictionary for the term human. You will find that the very first word that is associated with the word human is violence. All humans crave some form of violence. Thankfully, gaming provides gamers with a non-physical way to feed our never ending lust of violence.

It provides gamers something to do. It prevents the person from being in a very dangerous state of mind, which is known as boredom. Let us use a simple math equation to show what happens to someone who becomes bored. Boredom = Certain Death. This leads you to meet up with the Grim Reaper, who takes you to your final resting place.

Graphics now make you feel as though you are taking part in a movie rather than playing a game. When the very first games came out, all you could see is a 2-D screen which did not look good at all. Thankfully with the current level of graphics you can now see things which were previously thought impossible. You can see the shadows of the characters in the game. They may also make you think that you are not just looking a PC or TV screen.

Good or Evil? Do you want to walk down the path of the righteous? One who brings eternal salvation to the masses. Alternatively you can become the next Darth Vader. One who brings disorder and mayhem to the galaxy.

You are able to do what you want, when you want. You do not need to get permission from anyone to do what you want to do. Let that be crossing the known galaxy or exploring an uncharted planet. You are able to free your mind of the countless boundaries which have been placed upon you.

It is very commom for gamers to be able to interact with their environment. You are able to disarm a person who is a dangerous pick pocket. Sadly you are not spiderman. Your next best option is to jump from building to build trying to escape from your pursuers.

Expectations for previously played games. Around two years ago i played a game called Final Fantasy 12. It took me more than 144 hours and 17 minutes to beat the game. I completely enjoyed playing this game. I have a certain expectation that the sequel, Final Fantasy 13, will be as good or better than Final Fantasy 12.

Wide range of characters. Have you ever wanted to be a samurai? Even better, do you want to be the captain of a Galaxy class starship? Games allows you be be any type of character you can image.

Music also an important factor. If the music selection is bad, it can ruin the experience that you will have. However it goes both ways, if the music selection is great it will make the experience that much better. It really helps you get sucked into whatever you are playing.

Environments can be anything. You can be in lost in space which makes you feel as though are are nothing in the never ending galaxy. You can also be transported back in time, experience the sights and sounds of a medieval village.

It's for everyone. You do not need to be a teacher or a doctor. It does not matter from what part of the world you are from. It does not matter what your beliefs are. Anyone who wants to play a game can do so.

Games let you see possible technology that currently is decades away from becoming a reality. It also can give expectations to what different technology that you can use. Let that be a fifty story tall robot which can destroy the whole planet. It can even be as simple as a device which can protect you from dangerous radiation poisoning.

We are unable to encounter things that are not in the known world. Currently we have no evidence that Aliens, Elf's, wizards, dragons and many other beings even exist. Games are one of the few methods that can allow you to freely interact with these types of beings.

They allow an escape from reality. Games allow you to escape from this troubled world. They offer ways to acquire status and recognition which may not be possible any other way. Even though you may have failed in the real world or have been rejected by society. It may even offer a second chance to some.

The are no repercussions for actions. Anything that you do in the game world, you can always press the reset button. Sadly the same can not be said for the real world.

I really did not think that there were so many different things that can lure people towards gaming. I believe that i have stated a decent amount of reasons which may explain the attraction with games.

Ok first of all no one cares if you got the first post, just shows you dont care
about the authors work that he put into this article. Now onto the article it
was amazing how you grasped the idea of why we get lured into gaming and enjoy
it. With new games like GTA IV, Killzone 2 and many other we can see how
graphics have become breathtaking, we went from 2D to large 4D graphics, yes I
said 4d. 4D would be like the real world or something very close to it. 10/10
That was amazing
